hiding areas in viewport

I have a detailed 3D drawing in AutoCAD 2004 and I need to hide the "details" in paperspace. Is there a way to cut holes in the viewport? Or is there a way to cover these areas up? I can't simply turn the layers off. Any help is appreciated.
