So you have the camera, the animation is set up properly and you wish a movie file you can play outside of 3D Max, right?
The process is called RENDER. I use 3d MAX 7 but for sure the way is the same. So start the render dialog (my icon is like a tea pot near a window). A lot of settings are availabel but the most importants are:
The time segment to render -be sure it is not set to render a single frame.
The output file -must be able to record animation, so set it to AVI, not to BMP:)
The vievport to render. Choose Camera01 or so from the pull-down menu.

The rendering is usualy time consuming so it is preferable to render a few frames first and only if you like the results render the whole length.

I know this is a bit late, but... you want to make sure your view is set to the camera. If you're looking at the plan view or something, that's what will render. Default location is the active view (this being the one with the red or yellow frame)
