Outlook 2003

Untill now I have never needed Outlook on all the time, now I need it so I collect Emails and answer them asap, my problem is If I by accident shut outlook down it will not notify me of any new email or tasks I have set up within outlook, My question is , is there away to keep outlook in the task bar active so if I shut it down it will remain active?

Ok fixed the problem. transfer email to gmail and install the gmail notifier plugin. jobdone
