When I invoke my Autocad 2000i, I get an annoying message "Failed to update system Registry, please try using regedit"
I know I deleted a key that I shouldn't have one day, I also know that it is caused when the currect user has no permissions to edit the Registry, and I need to know which file I must re select all users to have full control. If someone could get back to me with the file name, in the Registry I would certainly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Karen

I'm not a 2000i user so this took a while to find but I hope it helps with your problem:

Found by searching through the AutoCAD Discussion Groups forum at AutoDesk.

Thank you for your response. I think this would work if my boot up was configured with an Administrator and designated users. When I installed XP, I just ignored that part and I boot directly to my desktop. Secondly, I had the identical problem with Solidworks, as when I did the damage, I did it to both Autocad and Solidworks, and I corrected the Solidworks problem right in the registry by toggling on permissions in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\sldprt.doc. I selected all users to have full control. I know there is one particular file in Autocad where I could do the same thing, the trick, I guess, is to find that particular file from the many that there are.
I thank you kindly for your response, and your effort. I hope that someday I may be able to reciprocate.

I'm not really a computer person so I don't know if this will help or not, but would rebooting your computer into safe mode work?
