Is it not that Esc = ^C^C (a.k.a. CANCEL). It can be done.
I only have 2 button mouse, not a wise move.

The good news - there is a way to do it because i have changed my F1 key to do the same function as the Escape key, it used to annoy me so much when i would go to press the escape key and accidentally hit the F1 key then have to wait for the help menu's to load up.

The bad news - I cant remember how i did it!! i did it using the CUSTOMIZE --> INTERFACE dialogue box from the TOOLS menu i think.

Just create a new button on the toolbar. My AutoCAD automatically gives that button a the starting macro of ^C^C, which = escape.

I too have reset my F1 key to = Escape, as my aim is not always as good as it should be ;) ...
I access Help I press Ctrl+F1

^C^C isnt escape it is cancel, which is slightly different, especially when it comes to grips, I have escape on my right side mouse button assigning the keystrokes Ctrl+\ however when i try to add those keystroke to a button on cad is doesnt accept it - maybe someone will know how to make it.

PS my F1 key is also escape, first thing i did after getting 2006 was re-assigning that F1 key

The "Redo" button will cancel commands and clear grips. The only warning is be careful using it if you have just undone something, other with it will show there is nothing to be redone.

Do this do it for you?

But if i learn't owt at least i can go change my F1 key :D

if you are talking about having a button within the autocad screen (ie an icon like the line command) then all you need to do is customise your toolbars, right click an icon choose customise, find the cancel command (if thats what you need) and drag it to what ever tool bar you want it too appear on, assign a button image and apply, you then have cancel as a button in a toolbar
