Typically when I create multiline text using Middle Center Justification I would get grips in all four corners that I could then move to fit inside my object and the text would move along with it. Now when I create a piece of multiline text and try to move the grips I have and arrow grip to the right, an arrow below, and a standard grip in the middle. Also is I move the text a box appears around it.

I am assuming this is some sort of system variable but I have not been able to find it and have no idea how it could've be changed as it worked one second and didn't the next.

I opened up an older drawing and the existing Mtext had all four grips but any new text I created did not.

Any ideas? Any and all help is appreciated.

So I had a fatal error this morning and AutoCAD crashed. When I reopened the file, all my text was displayed as white boxes (see image). It was in arial font.

When I double-click to edit, I cannot see the text unless I select a font that is SHX (like romans). If I use a SHX font instead of a TrueType font, it displays correctly while I'm formatting it, but doesn't save the changes when I click ok.

This happens whether I type new text, copy and paste existing text or import text from another file... am I doomed to a text-less drawing?

The files are not very big (one piece of equipment per file) and always have shown an image when viewing the file in the folder via thumbnail view. Now suddenly they do not and I cannot figure out which setting I've screwed up. Anyone come across this?

I've checked all the settings I can think of OS wise (like folder options and such).

I did just recently download InDesign CS5 and I think I remember it asking me something about a thumbnail view, but even then (which ever I told it to do) I would think that would only pertain to that program.....

Hello,

Ive started to put together a block library for a company im working for, Im trying to do this in the most "useful" way i think i can!

firstly the blocks have various visibility states to make life easier, rotation parameters etc.

The main thing im finding odd is i wanted to make the text(attributed) always 0 rotation so it would always be readable. I made an annotative text style and it worked well. I also however wanted the blocks to be annotative so as they were inserted they would resize as they should.

Now the company i am doing this for dont know about annotative stuff so i then had to remove that! However i wanted to keep the 0 rotation. I eventually gave up and changed the text style to non annotative. This should remove the 0 rotation function no? No! it doesnt. Strange? Well have a look at the atached see upon rotating a block the text stays at 0 rotation. My question is will this break at some point for some reason!?

It's about time I started using Dynamic Blocks but all the lititure I find for it makes what I guess is realitively easy into a mystery.

If I have a new layer called "PL" and draw a rectangle with it and then do a solid fill also on layer PL and make it a block:

How do I make the fill switchable between visible or not and choose it's colour?

Add things like stretchable in certain directions etc. (Plan view of windows are a good example of when that is handy)

If I can get these answers for a simple rectangle I should be able to fathom it out for more involved blocks.

I am using for a steel service center with a burn table. 400A hypertherm plasma, dual oxy fuel torches and a 30hp drill. Im sure I will have many questions but to start with:

I want to draw parts in autocad and then transfer them to pronest. How do I do this. I have been struggling for a while now. Also with me using this to draw parts for a plasma what kind of template should I be using? If anyone can help me I would be so greatful. And once we get that out of the way if someone can point me in the right direction of like a beginners manual that would be great!

PS I wont be this annoying forever I have some autocad classes scheduled but still have a few weeks:( thanks in advance guys
