Suggestion on specific function and which software

I work in the design dept of an inground liner and safety cover manufacturer for swimming pools. Currently we are using software based on R13 called EPDS, but however lots of functions are locked or simply not accessible, and the software is very out of date and the company is no longer around. Basically I need the software to take a 3D object and unwrap it into a 2D object for the vinyl cutting machine to read and cut the various panels. The current software will do this but is limited when custom shapes are ordered.
This is a sample order form w/ measurments: Top of form is plan view and then at the bottom is an elevation view.

so we draw the plan view and drop the hopper on the z axis the desired depth. then we use what are called wireframe lines to connect the perimeter to the bottom of the pool, the hopper. The program then needs to transform the shape into a 2D flat object based on the depth and wireframe lines. then we send the flat object to the cutting machine to cut them. I am wondering if newer versions of AutoCAD can do this w/o any addons or if lisp routines or the like need to be created to do this. We also have 2002 but it does not do the unwrapping we need. Now on the safety cover side these are all flat objects that just get divided up into 6' panels or smaller and sent directly to the cutting machine, nothing fancy. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am trying to condense some blocks by using parameters (see attached). My problem is I am trying to use the same attributes for all the blocks with some modifications. Like, when a bell is selected the only attributes to show should be the visual, size, and notes attributes, and when I select the mass notification all attributes should be selected except for the bell size. This is my delema; when I insert the block and select a parameter, the only attributes that are show are for the bell. The visual, size, and notes attribues, I can not seem to figure out how to get the other attribtues to show. But when I use the battman command I can see all of the attributes. Very Confused and frustrated.:?:x

When is it dangerous to have power cut off for the terminal computer, such that it begins a reboot again?

Looks that while I was gone, my office terminal got turned on, and there was at least five re-boots, one of which gave me zero bytes in an older file I was ocasionally working on. I had thought that with the terminal being turned off things were safe. Apparently not.

What got recovered was the very original format of my work, and now got to start from zero again, remember what I had done weeks ago and where had gone to get that location. The re-booting wiped out several versions of my work.

We used to have a warning system to guard against such accidental erasures, but that went south. After awhile they simply yelled out the open door, of a reboot about to happen, or now they tell you "after" the button was pushed. Oops?

I am trying to draw up a floor plan and I have no set of plans to go by. I have never had any formal training in architectural design either.

I just have a couple of questions.

1. How exactly are walls dimensioned? I have a picture I found on the internet that shows them being dimensioned on center (interior walls) and then dimensions on the exterior walls going to the edges.

Also, how am I supposed to show wall thicknesses? I know a regular 2x4 measures 3.5" across, and if I had a .5" piece of sheet rock on each side that would give me a wall thickness of 4.5". IS this correct? I guess if I were pulling dimensions from the center it wouldn't matter, but with the dimensions being pulled to the faces of the wall lines it would?

As far as exterior walls, I want this home I'm designing to be built with a brick exterior. I called a local brick company and they said it was hard to say exactly what kind of dimensions I might have because of brick. He said they sell alot of queen size bricks for residential homes. I tried to find dimensions on this style but I can't get a straight answer. I guess it varies by manufacturer. The way I figured exterior wall thickness was the width of the 2x4 - 3.5" + .5" (or I've seen 7/16" in some cases) sheathing, a 1" air gap between the sheathing and brick, and the width of the brick. Is this correct?

Thanks

I know what tools to use to draw but on the CAD course we dont cover standards of any kind.
So I have a plan of sorts, but knowing how to make it into a proffessional plan is not something I know. I need to I need to create an aplication for AutoCAD with vba using certain variables, defined in a webpage, and I though that someone around here would be able to help me.

I'll explain it better:

there's a form in a web page, where an user an select many options for a piece, like color or size and other stuff.
Then the page would send an email which somehow will contain the variables.
First of all I need microsoft outlook to notice when this email arrives and take the variables and save them so i can use them later with autocad.

The problem is I have absolutely no idea on how to doo it, not even sending the variables through email.

I really need this, and I will apreciate any help even if it's not for the whole thing.

thanks in advance, hope someone can help.
