Bill Tillman Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I drew the attached part in AutoCAD 2012. Then I imported it into Inventor. All was well but then I noticed I had left off the holes near the center of the length of the extrusion. I went back to AutoCAD and made the correction but then when I imported it into Inventor it was still missing the exact same holes which I revised for. I tried this several times but each pass the part would come in and the 8 holes near the center of the length were always missing in Inventor. It's like Inventor was pulling something from cache on the part and would not let the new changes from AutoCAD come through. Can anyone else import this and let me know if the same thing happens to you? LeftMullion.dwg Quote
JD Mather Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Looks identical in AutoCAD and Inventor to me. Attach you ipt file here. Quote
Bill Tillman Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Thanks again JD. I can't figure this one out. I will try it again in the morning and then if it happens again I will send the ipt file over. The darned thing is that I'm starting to get pretty good at working in Inventor and I already edited the part files for this part as well as it's mirror image to add the other holes (all 16 of them). It took me a little while tonight to start using planes and projecting geometry to drill these holes. There are so many faces to these parts that the only efficient way to drill the pattern was to establish a plane parallel to the major axis, project one of the existing hole centers and do my sketch for the hole patterns there. The trick is not to always dill through otherwise in some locations I end up taking metal out of the gasket race which is no big deal until they start machining. I don't want to make anymore work for the CNC guys than needed. Quote
