David Devitt
Hello Fellow Forum-persons! Does any one out there in Forumland know of a safe site to download AutoCAD linetypes from? - Thanks, Dave
ReMark
Just create your own then you won't have to worry about catching a virus.
David Devitt
Thanks ReMark, I suppose that is the best approach and I will have to look into doing that.
ReMark
What kinds of linetypes were you looking for anyway? You can try this website. It has several linetype files you can download. http://rkmcswain.blogspot.com/2007/09/free-autocad-linetypes.html Another website with links to different collections of linetypes. http://www.cad-design-and-drafting-services.com/free-autocad-linetypes.html Edited June 2, 2012 by ReMark
David Devitt
Just some fairly standard ones like "fenceline ----x----x----", ---gas---gas---, etc.

David Devitt
Hi ReMark - I have done some linetype file downloading and was hoping that you could give me instruction on how to insert them into my AutoCAD 2008 program. Thanks, Dave
Blackfish
You have to add line description (code) to your acad.lin (or acadiso.lin) file using Notepad. Check these threads: http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?14541-Line-w-text-ex-_____6-quot-Water______6-quot-Water____&highlight=custom%20linetype http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?14787-write-script-to-make-new-line-types
ReMark
I would recommend that you do not add the new linetypes to your acad.lin file. I would create a folder called MyLinetypes and put the .LIN file(s) in it and make sure the path to the folder is added via Options > Files > Support File Search Path.
