Opening revit file

Hi Everyone,

 

I am a new Revit user and when I try to open a file, this message pop-up on my screen, can anyone please tell me what is the problem?

I'm assuming you are double-clicking the Revit model. This is typically seen as a huge no-no. You must always go through the Open dialog box because Revit models are usually always a Workshared file, therefore the files you receive will be a Central Model. The Open dialog has steps to open these files correctly, in which you would be bypassing when you simply double-click the file in Windows Explorer.

 

You will have to become familiar with Worksharing, Central Models, and Local Copies:
