Addendum. This just came to mind. Perhaps you should try creating the helix in Fusion 360. I haven't the time right now to pursue it myself.

It probably is the small unit scale that is the problem. i had something similar a while back. Scaled it up and gone were al the blocky edges.

i fixed my problem. it was just because it was too small. if you take the a normal spring and scale it down more and more you can see how it gets less smooth the smaller it gets.

im not sure if you have heard of a diffuser? if you go onto the internet and search "AAP KZN" and look at profducts you will see what i am talking about.
