Use the View Manager to create, name and save a View.

Use the DEFINE BOUNDARY option when defining the view you wish to create.

Go to Paperspace and create a viewport.

Double click into that viewport, to active it.

On your View toolbar, or probably the View Panel on the ribbon (which I don't use), click on the drop down menu and select the view which you created and saved.

It will be restored inside your viewport.

Remember to lock your viewport once you have it how you want it.

It seems to me that you already know how to do this, apologies if I am just rephrasing your post. :|

You may also want to save a layer snapshot when creating your view, so that layer conditions are restored in your viewport, when you call the view.

I doubt that the program will work like that. Once in a layout viewport (VP) simply pick the scale desired, then lock the VP. I usually create the VP, zoom extents, zoom to the area I want, apply the scale, lock VP.

Personally I would do it like you suggested Rkent, although I believe the other way will work, not sure why anybody would opt for such a convoluted approach.

Unfortunately my believing it will work, does not make it so.

I have tested and discovered that, as was expected Rkent (AKA the Kludge Meister) was, as is his wont, correct.

The selected view will be scaled to match the size of the viewport created in paperspace.

Clearly there is no need to determine or set your scale in Modelspace, as the Viewport scale and display are what matter.

The key word that drove my approach was RESTORE view, in the thread title.
