Can you share a copy of the actual drawing file with us? If so then attach it to your next post and someone here will take a look at it.

Have you checked the VISRETAIN and XREFOVERRIDE system variables? Have you tried unloading the Xrefs to see if the problem persists? How are you accessing the materials?

Sorry i am not allowed to share a copy of the drawing file due to customer constraints. :/

In all my years here trying to assist other AutoCAD users I've never stolen a drawing. If you don't tell I promise I won't either.

Haha. I know i know, the drawings i work on have some quite sensitive information. So sharing outside the company is a big no no.

The VISRETAIN is set to zero. And XREFOVERRIDE doesn't exsist :/ Removing the XREFs helps, so they are the problem, but they (there are 2) are clean after purging...

So i have talked with "the powers that be" and they have ok'd it. Here are the files involved, plus a pdf of the finished drawing. Hope you can help.

Thank you for sharing the drawings.

I looked at all three of the drawings listed above. Of the three it seemed the 5241... drawing had the most items that could be purged including 64 Regapps, 10 materials and 10 plotstyles. All I used was the -PURGE command. Note the presence of the dash which is important as this defines the command line version of Purge. First I purge only Regapps. Then I repeat the command and use the All option. Try it yourself and see if you get the same results as I did.

BTW...after you have responded I will delete the copies of your drawings from my hard drive. You may choose to remove the drawings from your post if you wish.

I have done like you said on all three files, but when i open the "main" file 5241... up again everything that needs purging comes back. :/

Maybe you missed the part where I recommended running the -PURGE command and the two options Regapps and All (in the order I specified)?

Whenever you are not allowed to share a drawing, simply erase everything out of it and share it.

Then you are not sharing anything sensitive.

Oh, wait, you say after you erase everything, then you can purge the things you want to purge?

Then you have your answer, something you erased is referencing the item(s) you are trying to purge.

I did just like you said... and still get things to purge when opening again. Could it be something to do with the profile settings?

I am not erasing anything, just purging. :)

This comment was in response to OMEGA's post and not directed at you.

However, my response (see post #11) was directed at you. Not sure how you missed it.

Then I would check the drawings that you are xreffing in.

I did the same -purge like you suggested to both of the xreffed files. :/

Well the entities are being brought into the drawing in some manner; they don't just appear by magic. Perhaps it is via a nested block.

Sure feels like magic! Is there an easy way to find nested blocks? I have not created the blocks used in the drawing myself, they are part of an AutoCAD add on thay the customer had made.
