    This sound like you are not familiar with XREF. Try that, read about it..
    Make the variations based on a the basic THREE designconcept fles as origin, then different layouts (Viewports ring a bell?) and layers LATER ON will lead to desired 16 paperspaces (aka drawings). My advice, Good luck ;-)
