Hi: I would like to know how to change the width of the line in AutoCAD2002.

I draw the lines, but then i try to change it in by layer to 80mm or something close, but it still looks the same in the drawing?????

    Any advice? PLEASE!!

    Thank You!

Have you clicked on that little button at the bottom of the Acad screen that says "LWT"? It is between OTRACK and MODEL. See if that helps.

True LINE entietis cannot display width on the screen. You first have to PEDIT the line into a POLYLINE and then adjust the width. A couple of gotchas there. If you EXPLODE a wide POLYLINE, it looses all width info. PEDIT can only change all widths, if you have a POLYLINE that contains varing widths in the vertices defintions, you are in trouble.

If on the other hand, you only want to print with different line weights, the layer scheme is probaly the best answer.

Press the "LWT" button like f700es said, however, you also have to make sure your lineweights are "by layer". Select your lines, double-click one of them, and check the "properties" dialog box. The lineweight needs to be "by layer" for your application (I prefer to change the plot styles for lines rather than by layer). Regardless of whether you draw with lines or polylines, if you change the lineweight in the "layer properties manager" and turn the "LWT" button ON, it will show the line widths.
NOTE: On your layout, go to "Page Setup" and uncheck the "plot with plot styles" and check the "plot object lineweights".
Why would anyone want to have your lineweight "By Layer" instead of using plot styles to dictate your line widths? If your drawing is opened by someone who doesn't have your plot styles/.ctb, it will not plot correctly, but that wouldn't be an issue if plotted by layer.

Thanks Flores, forgot to add the by-layer issue. I am a strong believer in by-layer. I find more pros than cons for it, IMHO
