Viewing arcs

I have drawn some arcs to create a long ribbon-shaped line and every time I re-open the drawing the curbes of those arcs are changed to straight lines with corners. How do I get the curves back?

Arcs appear as straight lines, circles appear as polygons

Common causes:

1. VIEWRES is set too low (WHIPARC has to be off) , set it to 5000.

2. SHADEMODE has been set to other than 2D

3. WHIPARC is set to 0. (Viewres will have no effect when whiparc is set to 1)

The theory behind the straights, in an attempt to speed up graphics lots of software uses a simple trick of showing curves as multiple straights. You will often find in Autocad an arc will not touch a line but an intersection will reveal true point. Like rkent you can control the straights the bigger the number the trade off is graphics speed.

I am sure like lots here we just live with it and do RE when an improved image is required.
