    Isn't that a 'labelstyle' you can adjust? Use the 'style' command first to define as desired

    In the short term, you can change the bad label's style to the good label's style. You can do that by identifying the good style in the property window for that label. Go to the property window for the bad label and change the style. Problem solved.

    In the long term, however, it will help to understand how label styles work. Which is beyond the scope of this forum

    Late breaking news. While researching labels, I found this suggestion. If your Visual Style is not 2D Wireframe, set it to that.
