Go into your general settings and select the standard editor and see if that changes anything.

This post is now using the 'Standard' editor.

Let's see if extra carriage returns are added between these lines.

I have only separated these lines with a single line.

It would seem that the 'Standard' editor solves the issue, though, I've not needed to change this setting in the 10 years that I've been an active member here - evidently something has changed in the forum software to cause this.

Same FF version as @Lee Mac - using the Enhanced Editor Interface

I am putting a single return in between these sentences.

Let's see what happens.

This is Chrome Version 67.0.3396.87 (Official Build) (64-bit)

One space in between these sentences.

I wonder what the result will be?

The forum software hasn't changed. I suspect this must be a browser/keyboard quirk.

Adding an extra line here to check...

I'm using Firefox 60.0.2 (64-bit) on Win 10

Doesn't appear to be a problem for me.

It seems to happen when there is a blank line in the post: the single blank line is converted to two blank lines. For example, I see that there are two blank lines between the quoted text and your response in post #28.

OK, testing for one blank line...

One line above and one line below

End of test.

Yes, you're right, I'm seeing the same thing. But, as I said, there is no change in the forum software so this must be a browser thing. Annoying

Not to worry - changing the forum editor to 'Standard' appears to resolve the issue for now; hopefully FF will address this in a future release.

I switched to standard reply box a long time ago in all forums I visit, there have been different quirks in all of the browsers on different forums it seems with WYSIWYG from time to time.
