    Default WELCOME (again)

    Welcome
to the shiny new CADTutor Forum - I hope you like it (I'm sure you'll let me know).

Translating from the old board has been a complete nightmare but I have managed to bring almost everything over. Please check your profile to make sure everything is OK.

Also, let me know if you notice anything weird so that I can iron out any final creases. The only obvious thing I'm aware of is that quotes in old posts don't display correctly.

Whew! I'm going to lie down now... (there doesn't appear to be a sleep emoticon)

    Hi, David ---

Got your mailer in the Inbox and came right over. Haven't talked to you in a while. Sorry to hear about the problems with the board. Colin over at PhotoshopCafe had his board hacked and he just got everything back up and running.

Hmmm......I've been thinking about putting up a message forum on my site, but on second thought........Nahhhh (lol)

Hey, check out my new web site redesign at http://www.cloud-9.org and let me know what you think. Talk about pulling out yer hair, sheeeesh.....I'm not redesigning again 'till I retire (lol).

Hope all else is well with you. I really like the phpBB layout. I could get it from my host, but he would charge me extra for installing the database.

    'll be back...........

    Peace!

    Hi David,

I see you went with phpBB over invision. It's a nice board and the added facility to back-up the MySQL DB from within is an added bonus. I know how you feel with the frustration and problems that come from changing forums, as I've just updated to the new IBF 1.1, and had some serious fun ironing bugs out.

Still, I'm certainly learning about databse backup and uploading....

I'm also in the process of turning the WZ2K site into a graphics portal to allow for a more 'community' feel. Once it's up and running, you're more than welcome to add info regarding your site.

All the best, and I'll see you around the forum.

    Regards

    Psmeg

The PHPBB-layout is very nice, just wondering; are you going to change the colors?

    Thanks for the support guys!

I will probably skin the forum in the CADTutor stylee but not right away - have to spend some time on other stuff.

Psmeg, I looked at Invision first and had intended to go that way but the conversion turned out to be near impossible. phpBB gave the option of a direct conversion from the CGI YaBB forum and although this didn't work as advertised (I had to modify the database by hand to get it up and running), it was still less work than going to Invision where there was no direct conversion (I'd have had to use YaBB SE as an intermediate step). Just had a quick look at your forum - looks good, particularly having your new logo up top. I always thought the Invision page header was too big.

Desktop, think long and hard before setting up a forum - it can lose you weeks of your life.

Is it just me or is this forum very slow lately? Maybe the new host?

I haven't noticed any problems with speed. I'll keep an eye on it. Let me know if you have any further problems.
