    Default precision please

    hello all,
I have a problem regarding the precision in autocad '06. More precise the 6th. decimal..!
It makes snapping and the export into 3d programs, and their snapfunctions useless.
Is there a way to avoid this? -or maybe my settings are wrong..?

    What exactly is the problem?

AutoCAD should be more that precise for your needs.

thank you for your quick reply...
The problem is to snap to the corners if they are not connected on the last decimal, eventhough we only use millimeters for measures.
And we can't figure out why! Has anybody tried this before, or is it just us..?
Our engeneers will always go for extreme precision, that's our main concern...
    Thanks again

It sounds to me like you mean you are drawing lines etc that don''t actually intersect each other because it is snapping to a defined snap point some point short of where you intended.

My suggestion would be to turn snap off altogether in your drafting settings and use Object Snap preferences to snap to the 'end', 'intersection', 'centre' etc. of you drawing entitites. I've never understood what snap is for other than to cause this problem.

It is possible to snap to an implied intersection - ie when lines don't actually intersect.

    Is that what you mean?

I use it all the time. If you set an appropriate snap you can speed up a lot of drawings, especially circuit diagrams and block diagrams. The biggest problem comes if you continue to use the imperial default on a metric drawing.

I think that could have been the problem.
    Thanks again...
