Hey! My name's Melissa, and I've studied mechanical design in high school for 4 years. We are currently using autoCAD 2004 (not lite). I recently was hired to work at an engineering firm. They use an earlier edition of autoCAD, but I'm not sure what year. My problem is that the work I am required to do is more architectural. I don't remember that much about architectural engineering specifications like wall thickness and other basic things. Does anyone know where I can find this type of information?

    Thanks!

I'd go buy a technical architectual/building book if I was you and bury your head in it for a bit.

check with your local building authority. they should have a copy of your local relevant building codes and specifications on CD. They may even have a website set up.

In scotland we have a BIG RED PLANNING DATA book. Which has everything from typical car park and truck turning circles to the hts for ceilings and kithcen worktops. There must be a stash of building code books either in ur office or at a local council lib.

Also check out 'point a' and autodesk web sites for cds of lib. items of standard symbols etc. www.tenlinks.com is a good starting point.

    Enjoy
