Default make layers to individual files

    Hi,
I have a file with numerous layers in it that contains different parts. What I want to do is to save those layers to individual files (or the parts). Please give me some tips on how to do that.

Its fairly simple to read the layer table (thats what its called)

Do you want to know how many blocks on a particular layer or how long all the lines are on a layer or both ?

Needs a bit more detail to respond

In a nutshell, I create 3D models from the client's CAD files or design sketches, which I then use to produce high quality rendered images. Click on the link in my signature to view my portfolio. I'm always looking for work, so let me know if you need any renders. :)

So you're saying you have one drawing with many different parts drawn and you want to separate them all out into their own drawings? There are numerous ways of doing this. You could just do a "Save As" several times, saving under a different name each time. Then just open each drawing and delete what you don't want. Or you could copy, (Ctrl+C), each part from the original drawing and paste, (Ctrl+V), each one into it's own new drawing. Or you could WBLOCK each individual part, one at a time, to it's own drawing.
