    Default Zoom with objects selected

When moving or copying objects (such as copying furniture from one office to another) I often need to zoom in on objects to select just the objects without selecting nearby walls and other things I don't want to copy, then zoom out and/or pan to place the objects where I want them. When I select objects then try to zoom the selection drops out, so there is nothing selected to copy or move. This happens whether I use shortcut commands (Z or 'Z to make the command transparent) or the zoom toolbar.

Is there another way to zoom and/or pan while objects are selected so that they won't become unselected?

I use my mouse wheel to do mouse zooms and mouse pans. I've not had any trouble with selections droping out.

    Invest in a wheel mouse

Also check the command OPTIONS and check your settings in there drafting etc to see if you have inadvertantly turned something off.

Thanks, I never realized I could do that.

Maybe if I keep asking questions and getting more good tips, I might actually become productive some day!
