I'm an absolute beginner at CAD and its really overwhelming. I downloaded the 2007 edition from some website and I wanna learn how to use it. I'm taking a class in my highschool next year but I wanna get a head start. Can someone direct me in the right direction of where to learn it?

There are a number of tutorials not only here but at other websites as well. Many are free of charge.

Concentrate on the basics starting with the draw commands. These include lines, polylines, arcs, circles, rectangles, polygons and ellipses. Move onto the edit commands. In any given drawing, these commands will be used the most often of all. They include move, copy, rotate, stretch, mirror, array, scale, offset, trim, extend, break, and fillet. Then try your hand at single line and multi-line text. Finally, learn how to dimension.

Along the way take a look at hatching, chamfer, lengthen, measure and divide.

Also, pick up a good after-market AutoCAD book. Then just start drawing. The more you practice the easier it will come to you. Expect to make mistakes...it's part of the learning process. If you get stuck, come back here and post a question in the proper forum. You'll find many knowledgeable and friendly people here willing to help.
