Default Ground Shadows and Sketchup Style

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

I'm trying to set up the autocad 2007 built in renderer to:

a: actually show sun shadows (I have put in a ground plane and the invisible ground plane and still no shadows appear on the ground and walls etc cast no shadows on each other)

b: show the edge lines of everything in black like in a sketchup render

Anyone know how to do either of these?

I would just export the 3d to sketchup but the free version won't export graphics larger than screen size.

Don't seem to have an ambient light setting in 2007. There are no shadows cast even in edit mode it's jsut the default lights by the look of it and sun is definately turned on and set to cast shadows. This is driving me nuts!

a: actually show sun shadows (I have put in a ground plane and the invisible ground plane and still no shadows appear on the ground and walls etc cast no shadows on each other)

Answer - I modelled a box, an extruded rectangle. Added another smaller box on top then Pull down menu VIEW-RENDER-LIGHT-SUN PROPERTIES. check that it's on, at the top. I added a Distant light as well.

Then typed RENDER and the shadows appeared. They were set for SF california as it's dark here now.

b: show the edge lines of everything in black like in a sketchup render

Answer - use the modelling tools. eg rectangle, extrude it. Then I type 3DO (3d orbit) then right click VISUAL STYLES- CONCEPTUAL. Looks like sketchup.

I have not added any materials to do the above.

Any help from the above ?

    Off home now.
