    Default Moving to AC 2007

A question for any AC 2007 users. I’m running 2006 now and will be adding a few more licenses. I’m considering moving up to 2007 but I’m not sure of the value added. I do some 3D but mostly 2D. What kind of issues has anyone had when upgrading, and do you feel its worth it. Thanks.

Do not cross between versions if you already have started drawings in one version ! there are little errors that occur. !!! I have been there.

With all due respect, that's kind of like asking "Should I buy a new car this summer?"

    There are many factors here.
Do you have a reason to upgrade to 2007 - are there features in 2007 that will increase your productivity?
How many users do your have?
    In how many physical locations?
Can you make all the upgrades at the same time, or will you have to spread it out over days, weeks, etc.?
Do you have any custom apps that will have to be upgraded, fixed, dropped because of this move, etc.?
Is your hardware ready for the new sys requirements of 2007?

We stayed on 2006 because of many reasons.

The upgrade itself is pretty painless, assuming that your hardware meets the specs. Get the latest service packs built into your deployment before using it.

I have all that covered. The reason is to stay current. My question was to the current user of 2007. Do they feel the upgrade was worth it? Do they feel the new features help them? I don't need some one to tell me to upgrade or not, just their opinions. I will make the decision when needed.

In a nutshell, I create 3D models from the client's CAD files or design sketches, which I then use to produce high quality rendered images. Click on the link in my signature to view my portfolio. I'm always looking for work, so let me know if you need any renders. :)

Unless you do a lot of 3D work, I wouldn't recommend upgrading to 2007. The 2D environment is basically the same as 2006. If you're looking to upgrade, I would recommend waiting a few more weeks and go for 2008.

I had that same thought. I have not found a hard release date yet. I can't wait too long. Looks like some nice new features.

I like the customization possible in 2007 and I'm a 3D junkie, so it was a good move for me. 07 does have some bugs to work out and I'm not sure they will bother to get all of them with 08 almost out now.
If you mostly stay in the realm of 2D, I can't think of a good reason to spend the money or the time to upgrade.

if you are adding more seats into your office then they will have no choice but to be the latest version, so in my opinion, if you are buying new seats with say 2008 or 2007, then you should upgrade all your seats in line with you new products.

That is not necessarily true if you are on subscription.

i am assuming that as the question of upgrade has been raised the user is not on a subscription as the update would or should have already taken place.
