Do you have your Osnap turned on with things like midpoint, endpoint, nearest, etc. checked on? It seems like you have done everything correctly while inserting the block, you just need your Osnap turned on to snap blocks next to other blocks.

Hi All
I have been playing around with blocks the last few days
and have no problem creating and saving them.![]()
However I always seem to have problems inserting them accurately.
I have for instance cabinet modules as blocks and I need to insert
them next to other items, cabinets etc and snap them onto them.
How do I do this? I can never seem to snap them on accurately.
I have my block set up with an insertion point etc but I always have this problem and end up just fluffing it in so it looks right.![]()
Thanks for any help

ooooooooo.....DODGE,
This should be straight forward. Make sure your insertion point is correct. I create 2 blocks normally....one for insertion on the right side of an object, and one for insertion on the left side.
I you have selected an insertion point that can snap to a specific point on the adjacent object, then it should work.
Get back to me with some more data......also post one of your blocks up so I can have a bit of a play with it....![]()
Thanks Guys
I think it was me. I had my osnap on but not all the boxes checked, dumb. It seems to be ok now.
Dodge.

ew, yuck, you put them all on? i use an OSNAP setting of 47. that works perfecto.... for me anyways. lol
you use AutoCAD 2006 full right? well instead of creating two blocks like Alan says (sorry man, no offense here just giving more input, lol) you can use the "Point" Parameter in creating a Dynamic Block, and use the Ctrl key to swap the "insertion points" of the block. makes life MUCH easier....![]()

I can see I'm going to have to learn up on these dynamic blocks....

Yes, I forgot about dynamic blocks until today. I was able to use the stretch command for one. They really do come in handy!

DODGE.....further to what Styk said......read up on assigning your often used osnap modes to your function keys (F2, F3 etc). You'll find it much quicker to invoke a particular osnap mode by simply pressing a function key.
You set it up through your CUI.![]()

Or just right click while holding down your shift key. This will open a pop up menu containing all of your osnaps. Just pick the one you need. I keep Endpt, Midpt and Intersection running all the time. Any others, I just pick from the shift+right click menu.
