    Question 3d Modelling

    Hello everyone!

I'm creating 3D model of a chassis using AutoCAD 2002 version. This consist of a base and accessories such as fasteners and standoff. How can I combine these parts without changing their colors. In command union these parts will be merged to each others thus, also change the colors. How can I make the parts as one so when I select it in the assembly all parts of the chassis will be included. This should not change the color of the accessories for me to identify them easily.

    Thanks you!

In a nutshell, I create 3D models from the client's CAD files or design sketches, which I then use to produce high quality rendered images. Click on the link in my signature to view my portfolio. I'm always looking for work, so let me know if you need any renders. :)

You could create a Block. Another option would be the Group command.

    hello cad64!

thanks for your input. how about ungrouping it? in the -group command it needs to specify the group name, what if i don't know the group name, how can I ungroup the parts or how can I know the group or block name made for that parts. Is there anyway I can separate the parts not using -group command? I tried the command explode but it just separate all the surfaces not the components.

    Thank you very much.

P.S. Do you have some tutorial links in 3D MODELLING CREATION?

instead of using the -group command use the group command again that should bring up a dialogue box with a list of group names in your drawing, you can click on each name and highlight the group untill you find the one you need or you can click the find group button and select the object in a group to see its name, then in that dialaogue box there is an explode button that only explodes the group

It is possible to control the collor for each side of a solid. Start the Solidedit command, press F (=face) and (after <enter>) press L to change the coLlor of faces.
It's nice to be nice, but sometimes is nicer to be evil!.
