UNITS will change the units of the drawing itself

if your looking to change the dimension styl units you will need to set it up through your DIMSTYLE manager
If you would like to help my 2 year old niece Alaina in her battle against Leukemia you can donate blood at any Carter Blood Care and put SPON050875 on the donor form. Thank you so much for any contributions in this matter that you can make.

    Big problem......

What you have to do is rescale EVERYTHING in the drawing to your prefered units. That means you turn every on.....all layers.....all frozen layers......no nothing.....everything on.

then you work out the scale factor to metric......all I can tell you is that 0.3048m = 1 ft. but you are going to have to find out a more precise conversion then that.

Then you RESCALE the whole drawing to that scale factor. And hope that a base point isn't a requirement.

Best of luck.....save your original drawing, and get back to us if you have a problem......

    Cheers

if you still want to draw in mm but only have the dimstyle convert to inches under the primary units change:

    1) the unit format to the appropriate imperial type to either architectural or fractional...
    2) change the measurment scale under the tab to a value of 0.03937 (1/25.4)...

if, on the othe hand, you need to convert the drawings from mm to inches then you will have to do what mr. cullen has availed...

    Thank you,
That helps me on some other stuff I am going to do. But if I just want to start new drawings and do not want to type in Metric, since all the measurements I get are in INCH how do I change that? You instead of typing: @2000,2000 for a object I want to type @1'-7.75,1'-7.75
I guess that I is soooo easy that I just do not get it

    Bottom line....

You want to draw in metric....you get drawings in imperial......work out your SCALE factor for conversion. The most important part is you have to have a BASE POINT to relate every thing to.

Get back to me on this issue.....because it is extremely important.

    frank_cali,

If you start a new drawing and want to draw in inches.....then consider the acad drawing unit to be an inch.... i.e. 1 acad drawing unit = 1 inch.

The acad drawing unit can be anything.....inch, cm, m, mile, whatever.

Just check your UNITS to make sure they suit you.

....to anyone else following this thread....this is a reply to a PM from frank_cali.
