Default Script for find and replace

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

When using the "Find" operation, either through the drop down menu or by typing "find" at the command prompt, a dialog box opens in which different fields (e.g. Enter Text String) are completed and then the required operation is selected (find, replace, replace all).

Is there a way to stop the dialog box opening and allow the fields of the dialog box to be entered through the command line? This would then enable me to write a script to perform the find and replace operation.

I am making the same text change to over 100 hundred drawings and need to write a script to do this.

    Regards,

    Tim

i'm over at a friend's house so i don't have AutoCAD in front of me, and i don't think you can do it through the command line. however, try it out, i could be wrong. try typing -FIND at the command line, anytime you put a hyphen in front of a command, that's how you access it through the command line. if it doesn't work, chances are it's through dialog box only.

I haven't found a way of doing it yet. It is possible in VBA & LISP. If you have no luck here ask in the appropriate area. Give it a while though as most of us pop in and out of them all.

    Hi

I need to make it clear that it is not the same text change in 100 different drgs. it is up to 100 text changes within a single drg, ie 100 different text strings each text string being a different no. (Autocad 2007)

    Cheers

    Default Correct

    Hi

You are correct. Labels for different equipment are changed in a single drawing. However, there are hundreds of labels. I have the list of current and new labels in an excel spreadsheet.

    Thanks for reading my problem.

I'm having the same problem except my changes are exactly the same on each of my 150 drawings. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

there have been a couple of threads before on this topic - you may need to hunt back a while to find them, but the search facility works quite well
