    Angry Network Plotter Problem

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

    Hi Guys,
Our I.T. nerds have just given me another headache. They've changed the network address of our plotters.
I'm left with the daunting task of going through the Page Setup process on every layout in some 5,000 drawings and resellecting the appropriate plot device in the page setup.

Does anyone know of a batch process - maybe some scripting - which will modify the plot device info within multiple drawing files?

Bear in mind that some drawings have layouts set to different printers. (i.e A4 plots to an A4 Colour, A3 plots to A3 Printer etc.)
So this script would need to identify which plot device to which a layout was addressed and replace it with the new address.

Sorry if my first thread on this forum causes headaches.

    Andy

it may be somewhat easier to determine which layouts refer to which printers.
then re-map those printers to their new network address.

ie. goto your windows control panel, then to printers.
edit your port settings for each printer set up on your machine (s)

maybe someone can verify whether this is a workable solution ?

    Hi Norts,
    Thanks for that.
I'll try this & report if it works ASAP.
Trouble is our network's just gone down (again)
    Don't hold your breath.
