    Question Convert "body" to "Solid"

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

Is there any way to convert "bodies" to "solids". The only way I have found so far is to export to .sat and drag it back in.....it automatically becomes a solid then. The problem is I have to do this to about 800 parts.

Well, when i "list" the object in autocad, its described as a "body". So it looks like a solid, but you cannot modify it as such. You cannot subtract from it, or move faces or aynthing...it is what it is.

An outside contractor that creates 3D models for a company we buy pipe fittings from created a large number of parts for us. They must have been exported from another 3D software package. (not sure which one) When I was downloading the parts myself from this website I would download an ACIS file (.sat) drag it in and it would be a solid. When the contractor supplied the entire part library, they supplied parts where the geometry was a "body", and not a solid.

So I didn't create them myself.

When you explode a solid you often end up with bodies-a possible explanation where they came from.

Perhaps the .sat export and import can be automated with a routine?

Check to see if if they are being exploded when you insert them. The way you are fixing them is the only way I know of. Like CarlB said

Well, it wasn't as bad as I thought...with well places Explorer windows, the export and drag back in can go by quickly.

    Thanks for all the comments.
