    Default linetype confusion!

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

My layer linetypes are not appearing as I want them to in layout space (and in printing), as what I specify and draw in model space. I am sure this is a scaling issue, but I can't figure it out. Like I said, I set the linetypes up in model space (dashed, phantom, etc.), but they all appear solid in layout space/printing. Please help!

    Thanks!

What version of ACAD are you using?

What is your LTSCALE set to? (type in LTSCALE at the command line and the current setting will show up in brackets ex. (0.400))

ltscale in model space is 24. ltscale in layout space, and inside viewports (I don't know if any of this matters), is also 24...

when you are in paper (what you referred to as layout) space, set your ltscale to 1 and psltscale to 1 also.
    hopefully that should resolve things

You need to change the ltscale. Try 1 or 0.4. It will mess up the "look" in model space, but will print right in paperspace.

In autocad 2008 you can set the ltscale per layout, so that will fix this problem.

In MS set your ltscale to 1.....in PS select your viewport and go to properties.....in the properties dialogue set your linetype scale to suit your viewport scale. Activate your viewport and set the ltscale to 1.

Your lines will then look as they should in PS......but not in MS.

Your lines can't look the same in Model as they do in Paperspace.
I was having the same problem with dashed lines with huge gaps.
I learnt this when I first joined around 8 months ago from
    uncle Alan in North Oz.
