it should work the other way round - the first one to open locks the file and anybody else can only open in read-only mode. I have never seen it operate in the way you describe.

I am working in ADT 05'
I have a drawing open and working on it when someone else opens the ssame file
and then mine becomes Read Only and I can no longer save the file.
Has anyone seen this issue before.???

I did not beleive it myself until it happen right in front of me.
This is a very serious problem That I need to have fixed ASAP.

This may be something to contact Autodesk about, I have never heard of it doing that.
Me, personally......I would grab the old meter long stainless ruler.....and walk around the office untill I found the prick......then threaten to behead him if he ever did that again......![]()
We have a few around here that will open a file and leave it open long after they need it #@@$@#$@#$$#@*#^%**. At least Excel tells you who the guilty party is.
I need to figure out what causes this so I can set my Cad to kick the offending party off the drawing and make it mine.![]()


Shot in the dark here, but have you checked if xrefs are 'enabled with copy'.
Go to Options - Open and Save - Xrefs. It should read as above. If not, it can cause problems.

Yes, Thanks I looked at that to, and both machines are 'enabled with copy' I can not find anything non typical about our Autocad set up.
I still feel that this has to do with the Server somehow but of course
our IT says no it's an Autocad issue.....
