    Default Layering Issue

Hi - Posted a few days ago regarding the ability to change a large number of items from multiple layers to a single layer (completely change them, not just change the block object) without changing the colors of the blocks. I've got one large block, made up of about 200 large blocks, which is then made up of probably 1200 intricate blocks, and those are each made up of a couple of blocks, and finally there are the actual lines that make up that block. My problem is, I need all of these items to go on one single layer (hince, purge the rest of the layers from the drawing) yet I want them to retain their color so that I can tell the different parts apart. Does anybody have any ideas?

I've tried exploding the first single block and then changing the resulting blocks to color:byblock and layer:mylayer, then cutting mylayer off so that the only thing remaining would be things that are on other layers. Then I would explode all of those layers and change all of those pieces to color:byblock and layer:mylayer... I repeated this and all it did was change all of my drawing into one color on one layer. Is there any way to lock the current colors for everything on my entire drawing but change the layer so that they all go to one layer? I know I could change the color of each layer to a static color, but that could take days to complete. I was hoping somebody might have another suggestion.

    Thanks
