    Question Rendering Problem

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

I've drawn this, when I render it, this is what I end up with.

The red tubing is all one piece, so I'm not sure why it's so fragmented looking.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, why is there a fish on the forum banner?

What material did you use for the tubing? It looks like the red tubing is refracting or is semi transparent.

Don't know about the significance of the fish.

In a nutshell, I create 3D models from the client's CAD files or design sketches, which I then use to produce high quality rendered images. Click on the link in my signature to view my portfolio. I'm always looking for work, so let me know if you need any renders. :)

No material attached, it's just a plain red layer.

it looks to be a rendering artifact created by the modeling method used to create it...it appears that there is a vertex which is interfering with the smoothing normals between the adjacent faces...if i were to guess these points may be where the "revolve" started and ended creating a discontinuity between the faces...unfortunately, without know the eaxact procedure on how you modelled it i can't trace back what may have caused this "artifact"...also, in autocad, i don't know how you can go about affecting the normal smothness between faces on a local/sub-object level...

anyway, at least one quick q for you...is this the only side/view that this artifact shows up in? (if so that's why i'm guessing it's the start-endpoint of the "revolve")...

in the meantime have you played with the FACETRES variable?..it defaults to 0.5 so try playing with it in increments of .5 up to 3 to see if that helps any...just bear in mind the the higher the value the more cpu processing is required...

Hopefully the red objects are not overlapping some other entity... just a wild guess!

Btw, can you post the CAD file so that we can all have a look...
