    Question Another Dynamic Block Question

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

I have made a bunch of changes on an original dynamic block as i have learned more and better ways to use them. i now have the new version saved on my tool pallets so each time i use i will now have the current version of said block.

How can i update the dwgs where i have already used the older version without deleting all the old instances and purging the old block difinition.

i know i can open one of the blocks in the dwg in block editor and make all the changes and save and it will update all the occurances of this block in the drawing. That will be a bit time consuming and i am hoping there is a faster way to redefine the extisting blocks with a copy of the updated one.

finding it a bit difficult to describe what i am trying to do

    looking forward to any suggestions

    TIA

    WC

While you are in the DWG that contains the insertion of the block that you want to update, run the -INSERT command (command line version of ._INSERT), and when it asks for the block name, enter the name of the [block=path to .dwg file], then press ESC to end the -INSERT command. The block definition will be updated.

    Example:
    Command: -insert
Enter block name or [?]: house=c:\myblocks\house.dwg
Block "house" already exists. Redefine it? [Yes/No] <N>: Y
