Default What CAD system would be best?

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

I have been designing models for several years but have always drawn them by hand. I am now thinking about trying a CAD system to complete my next project due to the size . What would be the best basic system to use for this ?

Any help anyone can give would be great.

What kind of models? What are their purpose? Game, production, concept or machine parts? There are so many 3D model applications that it is almost too many to list?
    AutoCAD
    3D Max
    Rhino
    Maya
    XSi
    Lightwave
    Inventor
    VectorWorks................

Got any examples that were scanned and that you could share? Take care

Rhino is good for precision but 3D Max, Maya, XSi, Lightwave and such are a little easier to model in. You can get either DEMO versions or Learning versions of all of these. Good luck

Here is a link to a B24 blueprint to use as a reference.
