So you can't sketch on that plane and dim. it ?
Can you create a view in a sheet then dimension a
sectional view equivalent ?

Using IV 2008 and the NEW cross section analysis I want the distance, it's a cut section through a loft?.Part2.jpg

Nope, no sketch allowed, the analysis won't allow a plane on it, I cannot even select the edges using tools measure. I can only do it by doing a .idw and using section view, that way works but too long a way to do it, it would be nice if the cross section analysis did it.

Create workplane at desired section.
Start sketch on workplane.
Project Geometry Cut Edges.
Create line.
Dimension (driven).
R2008
If you then want to change the section location double click on the workplane to edit offset. Click update.
Yep JD you can do it that way, but I was was wanting to measure the distance while in the cross section analysis mode, I have many sections like this picture, again, I don't want to come out of the analysis

How about cutting out those planes as seperate parts to then dim. them ?
Maybe this could be automated as an add-in ?

I have been told the New Cross Section Analysis cannot do what I want it to do, not a problem I can get round it by all your other suggestions. Cheers all.
