Hi, this is my first post on the forum. I have tried searching and cant really find an answer to my question so I am hoping someone here can help. I am using AutoCAD Electrical 2008.

We have a company title block that was created a couple of years ago. The guy who created it is no longer here and nobody else seems to know how it was done.

We create a new drawing with a template. Using the project manager, we right click on the project and goto descriptions and use the first two lines. Then using the project manager, we right click on the specific drawing and goto drawing properties. Then in the drawing settings tab, we enter in the descriptions, sheet, etc. We do this for several drawings. As we changed things, sheets get inserted, deleted, etc. Once we are done, we right click on the active project and goto Title block update. Then autocad automatically changes the sheet numbers, line numbers, component numbers, etc. It automatically inserts the file name, resequences the sheet numbers, renumbers the lines and components.

Now we have a customer that insists that we use their title blocks. However they type everything in manually. Some of the drawings have upwards of 100 pages, so when something changes, that is a lot of retyping. Also the customer has a consolidated drawing where all the pages are pasted into one drawing and are laid out in a certain order. So fields tied to particular drawing properties don't work. Our title blocks do work because they dont update until you use the title block update function.

So my question is this? How can I set up the customer's title block to work like ours? How can I create my own title block to work like the one we have?

Feel free to email me with any questions or clarifications. My email addy is erg "dot" cgs "at" gmail "dot" com

I was going to attach a zip file of an example project with both the customer's title block and our title block but the file size limits prevent me from doing this. Feel free to email me for a copy.

Thanks,

EG
