    In my 2007 Cad64 suggestion works, but you have to use this setting when you have something else to purge other than Defpoins layer, otherwise it doesn't allow you to purge it.

    yes, the command line version you posted works fine.
    it's the dialogue box version which refuses to play ball

    wow... didnt realise i would creat a biq discussion regarding defpoints...

    no i know u can delete it with _pu command rather than LAYDEL
    i use it when cleaning civil drawings to use as xrefs

    Are you able to purge Defpoints through the dialog box?

    I just did it in 2000i, 2005 and 2008. Beats me why NBC can only do it through the command line. Interestingly enough, defpoints is still listed under "Items you cannot purge", even though it purges when I hit the Purge All button.

    okay, I opened the drawing, hit purge, the dialogue box purge, and ended up with 0 and defpoints layers left.

    Then I typed laydel, and buggar me.....defpoint layer was deleted.
