Drawing Speeding Up Drawings with Multiple Images

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

Is there a way to speed up the way autocad processes images? I am used to and can deal with the usual 1-2 images, but I have about 30 .jpgs taken from a digital camera on one sheet.
It takes about 4-5 mins to open the drawing, and about the same amount of time to plot.

I have the all the image/graphics settings to the highest setting because I need them to plot at the best quality possible. So maybe this is causing the long processing time, but I cant change these settings. Is there anything out there that can help autocad deal with images faster?

    Thanks in Advance.

    P.S.

    What are your computer specs?

Try turning everything off except AutoCAD and disable the Virus Program. Try running a spyware/adware remover. I use Spybot S&D for spyware/adware removal and it works very well.

Mine is similar except I have 3.4 Ghz and 2 Gigs of RAM and sometimes that isn't enough for large files. Going to 2 Gigs RAM would be a huge improvement for you.

RAM is cheap. A few times waiting to open drawings and the RAM is paid for.

Well, if you separete images on different layers you could be able to partial load your drawing and load only the images you need at that moment or none of them. then you will only have to load the entire drawing for page setup and printing. This could speed up your work, but when you want to open the whole drawing and print it then I think there is no other way than wait.
BTW why are you using Autocad for printing so many images? Maybe other dedicated programs would be better and faster

I need all loaded at once.
I need to have these in autocad because there are certain requirements for the client (the Government). It has to be a .dwg..I would like to use another program, but I cant.

There is your answer, just add the price for some more RAM as an extra due to your need of more RAM to complete the project.

I'm with ^him^. Upgrade the ram and even graphics card if necessary.
