Hi i'm new here.
I'm not exactly fantastic on AutoCAD. I only really know the basics and mainly just draw up floorplans. I'm currently using the 2006 version.
Anyways what im really needing help on is how to create a 3D object from a 2D one? I'm creating a table lamp and i've drawn up the basic design of it on AutoCAD from the front and its just 2D but now i need to get some 3D views of it. Is it possible to take the 2D version and make it 3D?? I'd really appreciate any help/advice.
This is what i have so far....
Ashleigh.

Thanks for replying. I'll have a look around on the tutorials. I've never used the closed polylines before (not that i know of lol) so i'll check that out too.

Split it into simple objects:
Model first the legs (circle extruded along the polyline path), 3drotate them and simplify the translucent "clothing"!
You could always draw the outline of the lamp and then use the Revolve command.

Ahhh...but that's where you're mistaken. The profile of the object is rotated around an axis. The profile can be as convoluted as one can make it. So, for example, one could "revolve" the profile of a wine glass, or a rook, or even a table lamp.
Now, aren't you glad you came here?

Thank you for a nice and warm welcome.
You are 100% right. I am just talking about the task which this noble lady needs to finish.
If you show me one axis where you would revolve anything (no matter which angle) regarding this particular task, I would highly appreciate it.
Have a nice day.![]()

Since you asked so nicely.
Go to the Showcase area of this forum and look on page 4. You're looking for my post that reads My first render...hold your laughter.
Most of the objects were created using the Revolve command. If you have trouble finding the post then do a search of the entire website on the words "temperature element".
