    Default Fire alarm systems Symbols

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

    Hi CAD Experts;

I wanted to design our own icons for fire alarm systems devices: Manual Call Point, Smoke and Heat detectors icons...etc and save them in the design centre or palette tools, so each time I upload a CAD drawing, I should be able just to drag and drop the icons from the palette tools onto the CAD drawing where is required. is that possible? and how?

There is no problem with design the icons of *.GIF sort of of *.ico but to save them or import them into the palette tools, that is the main problem.

    Thank you in advance

    Benz,
I may be wrong but Tool palletes, & design centre is not available in R14 ?

If your icons are .gif then they are images not blocks (.dwg's), you would have to use image attach/manager to insert these.
For the basic symbols your after, why not draw them, save in a standards folder, then you could use them with palletes.

What I wanted to do is to get them ready saved in the palette just like electronics component and so on, then by drag and drop they can be added to the drawing where required, instead of redrawing them each time,... as I need to add more then hundered per drawing...

    Am I making sense?

    Thank you

    Perfect sense Benz,
What I am suggesting is that you draw you icons once..
save them in a sub-directory something like 'standards/icons'
Then with design centre drag them to a pallete...
and then you have them to drag and drop from a pallete..
I dont think you can add `.gifs' to a pallete so you might have to draw them atleast the first time anyway..

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the reply

I have tried some drawing of *.gif onto design centre, it is great but to drag and drop them from the design centre onto the drawings where required it did not work. Now the most important enquiry is what sort of extention (*.What) the symbols should be?

    Thank you

    Thanks for you reply

As have seen you are based in USA according to NFPA standard shown in your add, any way I am from UK we use BS5839 as you may know, if you post me some of the most common symbols that would be great
    Thank you

I am still getting the same problem with importing some symbols onto a palette or design centre, none of the the extention has been accepted *.GIF, *.JPG,...........etc

Also; I do not necessary need the 3D option..... and all that sort of things of full version of AutoCad.

I am just looking for a simple cad editor which can be able to load cad drawing and drop on it my symbols that sould be already loaded onto the new palette tool called i.e. 'FAS symbols'.....

Is there any way to get this simple cad editor with this facility?

    Many Thanks
