I just got a call for a job were they need help with someone who can communicate with the workers in China and deal with the American side, which i can do. The problem is that they want someone who can look and understand autocad designs. I just need to know what a salesman needs to know and not how autocad works. They are using Solid works.

Can someone show me a design and help me understand what everything on the picture means.

If you can help me thx, this is the kind of job i dreamed of since i returned from china.

In a nutshell, I create 3D models from the client's CAD files or design sketches, which I then use to produce high quality rendered images. Click on the link in my signature to view my portfolio. I'm always looking for work, so let me know if you need any renders. :)

That's a pretty tall order. I don't think anybody is going to be able to just show you a drawing and explain to you everything you will need to know and understand. What kind of drawings will you be dealing with? Architectural? Mechanical? Civil? Electrical? All of the above? The kind of help you need will not be possible online in a forum. This is the type of thing that someone will need to spend some serious time with you going over a complete set of plans for whatever field you will be working in. Even then, you won't learn everything because every set of plans is a little different. You might want to check your local colleges and see if they have any classes on blueprint reading.

First of all SolidWorks is not AutoCAD although they might be used for much the same things. To actually use the programs is a professional endeavor that requires a professional level of preparation. These programs also have simplified File Viewers that are intended more for people like yourself who do not need to create or edit the models/drawings but learning to read the drawings takes some training too. I would suggest taking a class at your local community college or if you are in a hurry hire a consultant to sit with you for at least a couple of days. The consultant will need to know more about the specific field you are interested in.

Like said above, get someone in who can read the drawings, by the time it takes you to understand them the job will be gone!!
