    Default Align MS with PS

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

I have my Layouts set up with all the text in Paper Space, and I have viewports with my drawings - but they always come in a bit off. I know I can use the Align command to align one viewport with another - but can I align a viewport with paper Space?

Look at the image - anyone got a simple way to align the lines in MS with PS? Right now I zoom real close in and move it in position - and that generally means that I mess up the scale several times before I get it right...

you will need to be in paperspace, prior to starting this.

why not just MOVE the entire viewport, using one of the lines within the viewport as the base point, to one of the lines in paperspace ?
then if you need to stretch the extents of the viewport, that is fairly simple; by selecting the viewport, and using the grips

Osnaps would be my suggestion. I take it everything in MS and PS are scaled to match?

Question: Why was it necessary to do it this way? Shouldn't it be an all or nothing approach? Either it's all in MS or not. Looks like you're trying to straddle both worlds.

Sorry Tiger, I can't understand a bloody thing. All looks very foreign to me.

So you are saying that you bring in a longitudinal section to PS, and want to align it to be horizontal? You are bringing this LS in through a PS viewport? Much easier ways to do that, mate.

The Move-command didn't work - I can't snap to the lines in MS if I'm in PS apparently - or rather I can't find snap-points between the Viewport and the lines inside the Viewport

And yes, it's all scaled to match.

I completely agree with you ReMark - it's a mess doing it like this...it has some up-sides - but mostly I get annoyed because I can't align it perfectly to match... it's a case of 'we've always done it this way in this office so why change a winning concept?'

Can you create a view of the area you need, then in the viewport set it as current.

I have faced similar probs like this one Tiger... the way NBC describes works best for me.

/edit You should be able to pick nearest or any other snap point for the MS lines in PS to move the viewport.

'course I can move it! But I can't find the snap point between the actual Viewport and the lines in MS....so then even if I can move it, I can't use SNAP to align it properly
