Do you mean like just double clicking the block to edit it or REFEDIT?

you know when you double click and it takes you into block editor with just the block there to edit well i would like to be able to edit the block and still see the rest of the drawing faded out like when your ref edit

I get that (refedit) when I double click... I guess it must be a Mechanical thing?... I can see everthing behind... add to the block from existing objects... even snap to lines on the drawing...

You can choose for "Auto Hide" if you right click on the blue section... then it will only appear if you hover over it... otherwise, I'm afraid I don't know.

Go to Tools>Customize>Interface>Double Click Actions>Block change the Macro to ^C^C_refedit or you can just drag the Edit Block In-place command from the commands.

As far as getting rid of the Block Authoring Palett, just dock it to one side.
