    Question Command similar to Wipeout!

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

    Hi

I have used the wipeout command to erase items/objects within a given area such as a polygon.

Does anyone know of a command to erase all the items/objects outside of a given area.

Also is it possible to erase objects within a set area. For example to a shape like a polo mint, were the mint is the area that i want to erase and the areas inside and surrounding the polo is left untouched. Sorry hope this makes sense difficult to explain in words.

    Thanks

    GIB,

In another thread only yesterday I learnt a useful command called EXTRIM, which isn't quite what you're after, but might help, it trims all lines within or outside a pline, or a circle for your example.

Also, FYI the wipeout doesn't actually erase, just kind of puts a blanket over things.

Thanks for that information, Trying EXTRIM as we speak. Now you mention it thats exactly what the wipeout command does. I have used the wipeout command before just to see what it does, not actually on a job/drawing.

    Default extrim

by copying your dwg and using the extrim in different directions in each drawings, then pasting the area in the center of the "mint" back into your original dwg you should get what you want.
remember to thaw or turn on any layers before or you might get some remnants later

Assuming that you want to wipeout objects (not erase)
Draw a polyline similar to the red polyline (make sure it's closed) in the attached dwg and make it a wipeout.

BTW... what is a polo mint?

Seems like this has been asked before, a few months back. I think some pretty good methods came about in it. I will see if I can find it.
