i have been e-mailed an autocad 2002 drawing and i need to use it in autocad 2002 lt. i tried to save it to a dxf file (not sure what the benefits are?) parts of the drawing are staying grouped and can't be used properly.
i am a beginner could someone help me with the procedure for successfully transferring this file. much appreciated![]()

When you say, "...parts of the drawing are staying grouped" could they be a block? Or are they actually a "Group" entity. Both blocks and groups can be exploded.
You could look up "Group" in Help, assuming of course this is a feature of 2002LT as well.

many thanks, i'll give it a try![]()
thanks when i exploded the area in question it sorted it out, there seems to be another problem which may stem from:
every time i open the file a box appears called proxy information,
it goes on to say: "the last command created proxy objects and proxy entities, these project objects and proxy entities may yield unexpected results during certain operations"
i then go to layout go into model space, it rotates 45 degrees along with the crosshair?
not sure what to do, this is a survey sent from another company which i need to use, any help is much appreciated![]()

1. This image is from 2008, but I think it's an option in 2002.
2. Turn your UCS icon on; if X is pointing up, use Snapang=0; if it isn't pointing up, use the Plan command w/ the World option

If you're having problems with proxy information, you should check the Autodesk website for object enablers. Are you up to date with all service packs?
Not sure what's going on here? Have you tried locking the viewport? When you get into model space through the viewport, check your UCSFOLLOW variable. Is it set to 0?
What do you mean when you say the units look weird? Can you give an example?
You may need to post the drawing for us to look at.
