Hey guys,
i must say i love reading through this site, and finding the solutions for various problems in encounter in cad. bu on thing i was not able to find, and i must say it is annoying is x-ref. Mind you i find x refs to be very essential when u have to do something to a plan, and instead of copying it over, u can x ref it and turn of certain layers and do what you have to do.
my problem is this, i have this floor plan with about 40 different layers, i am x-refing it in a next dwg. lets call the dwg finish floor. for example lets say i have this group of layers all located in the floor plan dwg:
walls
labels
roof outline
cabinets
i know with x refs, you are able to turn off the labels you want to turn off in the new dwg [finish floor]. the freezing and turning off of layers works great, only if i dont make any changes the main dwg [floor plan]. lets say i turn off/freeze , "labels, roof outline, and cabinets" in the finish floor dwg. if i was to go into the floor plan dwg, and make some changes and save again. i would have to update in the finish floor dwg, which is acceptable, but when i click reload, all the layers i had turned off/frozen, appears unfrozen, and now i have to go back into the layers properties and turn off what i want again.
i tired closing out the finish floor plan, and only having the floor plan open, i save the floor plan, closed it out, and opened the finish floor dwg again, the layers what i had previously turned off, the automatically come back on.
what gives.
i cant turn of that particular layer in the main floor plan dwg, as it is supposed to be on.
what can it do?
