Has anyone out there made this transition yet ?
If so, can you give me some pointers as to best practices, things to be aware of, time-saver, trip hazards, etc ?
I've just been informed that I am to setup, and develop some form of GIS capability at the office. As I have very limited knowledge of it at the moment, I am seriously looking at expanding that.

the favourite at the moment seems to be MapGuide. Other than that I haven't a clue.

I use AutoCAD Map and ESRI ArcGIS. Each has it's strengths. I'd suggest a training course...ESRI has many.
